After 8 years in the same home, we are looking for the right person to take on our much-loved 12-year-old thoroughbred gelding. He originally raced on the flat before retiring as a 4-year-old and is best suited to an experienced hacking home. Not for someone looking to bring on, but for a rider who will enjoy him as he is.
In a school, he works nicely in walk and trot with some basic lateral work but is not a competition prospect. His real joy is hacking, and he is good in traffic, enjoying rides in the New Forest. He enjoys popping the odd log and handles streams etc well. That said, he is forward-going and can occasionally shy or become excitable, so he needs a confident and patient rider who wants a bit under the engine and will enjoy his spirit.
He is very affectionate with exceptional manners in the stable, has no vices, and is good to load and clip, as well as for the farrier and dentist. However, he can be sharp at times both in hand leading in and out and under saddle, so he requires an experienced owner, ideally with thoroughbred/racing stable experience.
He can live in or out with appropriate shelter and regular rug changes, and requires a committed home that will maintain his routine and regular exercise. Comes with tack and a full set of rugs. Genuine reason for sale due to aging owners. Videos and photos available on request.
