* Currently unbacked, but if he is still with us by March we will start the backing and breaking process. His price will increase the more he learns *
Looking for a new home due to no fault of his own, sadly a change in personal circumstances has forced sale - Happy to discuss further.
Currently standing at 14.2hh to make no bigger than 15hh.
He is such a funny character and loved by all on the yard and comes to call from the field like a big dog.
Handled by various people on the yard and is a delight to be around.
Very sad sale, as I have had him since a yearling.
He has the foundations of some great education and groundwork under his belt, but due to lack of time and facilities he is currently unbacked. Because of his kind, bold and wanting to please personality he will be a dream to back and start his ridden career. He has been on in hand walks and seen traffic, has been ponied off of another horse on a hack through the South Downs in just a headcollar and was extremely well behaved, he has been introduced to long reining and has taken this all in his stride, also happily accepts a bitted bridle with saddle and girth. Again due to lack of facilities and time unfortunately we haven’t been able to lunge him, but I don’t think it would take very long for him to learn, as he’s a very smart boy!
Ties up nicely and loves a bath and a groom, very easy to do in all ways!
Happy to live in or out, rugged or unrugged as he grows a lovely thick winter coat.
Is currently turned out in pairs and stabled at night, but he has previously been in a herd of 6 which he really enjoyed
He can be sharp to pick up his back feet, but once you have them he is fine. My farrier has suggested that as he had mud fever as a foal, he probably links lifting his back feet up to pain and irritation. My farrier is fantastic with him and very patient, as he can kick out with his back feet, but with repetition I’m sure he will grow out of this.
Due to lack of time he hasn’t been long reined, walked out in hand or ponied for a while, so he has been a field ornament for the last year. He would really benefit from a 1-to-1 home with someone who can give him all of their love and attention.
Up to date with jabs, worming, farrier, physio & dentist.
Open to vettings.
£3,500 OVNO, priced to reflect the lack of further education.
Based near Petersfield, Hampshire.
