They are driven into the ground up to the top of the 'spade' using a post driver. The 'spade' makes them more stable once in the ground and they can be used for start, ends, gates, corners and lines of posts.
For removal, there is a post puller which enables them to be pulled out of the ground with ease.

T-Post Top Insulator (black/yellow):
The top insulators protect your animals from injures as well as providing an attachment for electric rope or tape, so you can use the full height of the post.
They can be used with wire, polywire and rope up to 8mm in diameter as well as tape up to 40mm in width.

These plastic rope insulators can be clipped onto the T-post at your desired height, in between the supporting studs on the posts.
